FAQ
How do I measure my horse for a browband?
If you already have a browband that fits well, i.e. does not pull forward against the ears (too short) or gaps and flops in front when you ride (too long), lay it out flat and measure the length from end of ear loop to end of ear loop. A standard size is 16 inches, with cobs often 15-15.5 and large warmbloods 17.0-17.5.
What size browbands are available?
We carry 13.5-14.5 for ponies, then 15.0-18.00 inches for horses. Other sizes may be available upon request.
What color leather can I order?
We carry black leather, also brown and a darker brown. Our brown browbands can also be dyed even darker. They take the dye quite well and then we apply a dye sealer.
What is your return policy?
We want you to be happy with your purchase. When you first receive your browband, try it on your horse. If the fit is not correct, return it before you ride in it and contact us about shipping arrangements.
Which semi-precious stones are available?
We have included several stones in our current pieces, including: Tiger Eye, Lapis Lazuli, Onyx, Malachite, Turquoise, Cat’s Eye, Aventurine, Amazonite, Picture Jasper, Hematite, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Chalcedony, Citrine, Freshwater Pearls, and many others. We are always trying new combinations.
Are these browbands allowed in recognized dressage competitions?
Yes. We have had many judges at our booth and we always ask them how they feel about the browbands. We have had positive responses. Some judges are wearing our creations!
Will these browbands fall apart?
No. We have been riding in them for the past year and they have stayed together very well. No problems at all. We have built them with sturdy construction in mind.
How can I clean the beads?
Use a mild liquid soap, like Ivory, and a very soft toothbrush. Dunk it in a bucket of warm water and gently work the brush with soap along the surface of the crystals/stones. Rinse thoroughly, then pat dry. Allow to dry thoroughly before applying a light coat of leather conditioner on the leather parts only.
Why do the beads "buckle" when I hold the browband flat?
Since the browband is worn across the horse's forehead, the browband covers a curved line. We have added extra beads to cover the extra space allowed in a curved line vs. straight line. Your beads are sewn on all the way through all the layers of leather about every inch, so they are very secure.
What if the browband I like is not in my size?
Contact us. If we have your size on hand and the beads are still available, we can make a custom order for you.
Can I design my own browband?
Yes. Contact us. We have a wide selection of semi-precious stones, crystals, sterling silver and gold vermeil. We are happy to take your custom order.
